Alec Baldwin breaks his silence. The Hollywood actor released a statement following the accidental killing of a crew member in what many people are calling a disastrous gun mishap on the set of his new movie, “Rust.” Here’s what you need to know.
According to reports, Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun Thursday that killed one crew member and injured another on the set of the movie “Rust” in New Mexico, Santa Fe County sheriff’s office said. The film’s director of photography, Halyna Hutchins, 42, was killed, and director Joel Souza, 48, was injured.

No one was arrested in the incident, and no charges have been filed, according to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s office but it does remain under investigation at press time.
The Hollywood actor took to his Twitter account to write, “There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours.”
Baldwin added, “I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”
“Rust” is a western film set in the 1880s that stars Alec Baldwin, Travis Fimmel and Jensen Ackles. The film is about the story of a 13-year-old boy in 1880’s Kansas who, charged with protecting himself and his little brother after the death of their parents, “goes on the run with his long estranged grandfather after he’s sentenced to hang for the accidental killing of a local rancher.”
