Queen Elizabeth is at odds with her son Prince Charles over the future of Buckingham Palace. There’s a new report that says the Queen is none too pleased over the fact that her son is trying to turn the palace into a museum for tourists. Here’s what you need to know.
According to Page Six, the Prince of Wales is apparently planning a “shakeup” for when he takes the throne. He wants to put the royal family on a financial diet, whittle down the monarchy to just seven major figures and turn Buckingham Palace into a museum. Unfortunately, Queen Elizabeth is firmly against it.

One source close to the situation tells the site that the museum won’t happen anytime soon – especially if the Queen has anything to say about it.
“She’s not very keen on that particular idea and believes of course, that it should remain a family home of sorts,” the source added.
“Her Majesty the Queen will go between Windsor Castle, which she considers her main London base, and spending two to four days a week also out at the re-renovated Buckingham Palace,” the source told the news outlet. “So for now, whatever you’re reading, it doesn’t look like Prince Charles is going to be getting his own way anytime soon.”
It’s also bene said that Prince Charles is looking to offload some of the costs of the palace, which was last restored during World War II. A $500 million dollar renovation was approved in 2016, but it won’t be ready until 2027.
