‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers meet Moriah Plath, the most talented side-stepper this side of the Mississippi! Seriously, she barely avoided all but telling Mom Kim Plath all about her upcoming gig, but granted, Kim didn’t really make things easy, she should have been an FBI interrogator.
Moriah made sue not to tell Kim that Olivia was going to be her keyboardist, and she made sure to be intentionally vague about where and when the gig was going to take place, saying that “We’re working on it.” which is more of an answer than some people would have given Kim, honestly.
‘Welcome to Plathville’: Moriah does the side-step
Some people would have just flat out said that it was none of Kim’s business, but Moriah isn’t really known for her aggressiveness, sure she’s bold, but so far we really haven’t seen a foul temper on her.
She was joking with Kim, saying that her gig would be on the news, but then Kim said, “Oh, well if it’s going to be on that then you’d have to tell us, we don’t watch that stuff.” Imagine, your Mom being so disapproving of your lifestyle that if you told her that you were going mainstream she would say that she wasn’t even going to watch it.
That makes me sad for Moriah. Also, when Moriah suggested the idea of cover songs, Kim looked horrified, she should have expected Moriah to branch out and not want to do the gospel music that he had been raised on. After all, she’s just 19!
But let’s be fair here, it’s not like Moriah’s going to really do anything more than a couple of Taylor Swift songs. Kim acted like she was going to go full-on old school Alanis Morrisette or Meredith Brooks and just be belting out “U Oughta Know” or “Bitch” at the top of her lungs – honestly that would be the world’s funniest thing and most of us would pay to see Kim and Barry’s expression if she ever decided to cover those songs, but I don’t think Moriah would, she just doesn’t seem like the type – at least not yet.
Alternately, her covering some of Britney Spears’ songs would be interesting and likely to give Kim and Barry a coronary. However I think she may stick to “Teardrops on my guitar” or “White Horse” for now.
Also, why does Kim suddenly think that Moriah may be pregnant?! She actually came out and asked her that during her visit. Does she trust her that little? Of course she does, and it would be as good as Kim would have for Moriah to get pregnant right now and have to stop all of her dreams and “turn her life around” and “get married”, I do honestly think that Kim was surprised that Moriah was doing so well.
Though, the poor thing couldn’t bring herself to tell Kim that she didn’t want her and Barry at the gig – and she said that it’s becoming harder and harder not to. She really does need to rip off that band-aid… stay tuned!!!
