‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers reveal that Lydia Plath apparently has her own way of getting past Kim and Barry’s texting ban with the boy she has a crush on. Apparently, while Kim and Barry don’t like the fact that she’s texting this boy, they have nothing against her texting his sisters.
She says that she texts his sisters all the time to ask how he’s doing and it’s “just enough” to get her through the day, although, she did compare the texting ban to fasting, she said that you can only do it for so long before “you need to eat, or else you’ll die.”

Poor thing is languishing away and going through all the proper channels in order to get news about her would-be sweetheart! That’s how it’s done in these religious circles, see. First, the family has to know the family, and then the kids get to talking, but if the kids are of the opposite sex then it’s more acceptable for the girls to talk to the boys’ sisters than it is for them to talk directly to the boy that they have the crush on.
That’s just the way things are done, otherwise, it’s too scandalous and there might be some impure thoughts going on! Oh no!
Although honestly, with Lydia Plath, I don’t think there’s any question of any ‘impure thoughts’, with Moriah it was clear from season one when she told Micah that she wanted to get out and drink and party at college that she was having some impure thoughts and that she had been for awhile.
(Although honestly, probably not as impure as your average teenager who had grown up on mainstream media) With Lydia however, it’s clear that the only thing she might do with this guy is having a spirited book discussion, or perhaps a biblical debate, there doesn’t really seem to be anything to really worry about.
We have to hand it to TLC for blurring out the texts on Lydia’s phone because she really doesn’t need any interrogation as to what she was saying to his sisters. Although, one could clearly see a line of emojis in one of the texts and one of those emojis was a big red heart so who knows what she’s discussing with these girls? Guess we’ll see. Stay tuned!!!
