Could this be the reason why Angelina Jolie was spotted visiting his apartment several times this past month? Maybe, but it looks like we will be hearing and seeing much more of her ex-husband, Jonny Lee Miller, as it has just been announced that he will be joining the cast of Netflix’s highly-acclaimed series, The Crown. Here’s what you need to know.

Netflix have announced that actor Jonny Lee Miller will be joining the cast of The Crown to play British Prime Minister John Major, who was in power from 1990 to 1997.

As many fans can recall, Miller was both on Eastenders and Prime Suspect before her shot to global prominence playing the character Sick Boy in Danny Boyle’s seminal Trainspotting back in 1996.

He also starred alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in the stage adaptation of Frankenstein, also directed by Boyle, in 2011. In recent years, he played the iconic role of sleuth Sherlock Holmes in Elementary, with Lucy Liu as Watson.

Miller follows in the footsteps of Gillian Anderson, who won a Golden Globe for her role as a former PM Margaret Thatcher in season four.

In other news, The Crown Season 5 will cover Martin Bashir’s interview with Princess Diana, despite the fact that Prince William is none too pleased about it.

The Netflix series will include how Bashir supposedly “groomed” Princess Diana into doing the interview. An independent inquiry – by retired judge Lord Dyson – found that interviewer Martin Bashir acted in a “deceitful” way and faked documents to obtain his interview.

Filming for the forthcoming episodes of the lavish Netflix drama is reportedly due to begin next month. We will definitely update you with all of the latest details as they come in.
