Survivor find that a competition show that has been around for 40 seasons didn’t make it this far without reinventing itself over and again.

For the first decade of seasons, Survivor seemed more grass roots in that it focused on just that- surviving- battling the elements and each other to win the million dollar prize.

The locations were certainly front and center with a different one visited each season- Borneo, Africa, Australian outback, Cambodia et al.

Eventually the format changed and production began to return to tried and true locations like Samoa and Nicaragua before settling permanently in Fiji.

Don’t expect that to change anytime soon. Regardless of the pandemic shut down issues that have come from filming back-to-back season 41 and 42 in Fiji, the country provides Survivor with a 45% rebate, essentially paying for almost have of all production costs.

After the locations could no longer entice new viewers, themes began to dominate. Some, like Blood vs. Water and the last season: Winners at War worked very well, while others just seemed to dole out disadvantages from the start to some players.

Blue Collar vs. White Collar vs. No Collar turned fans and players off certain groups from the jump- which yes, was the point, but does anyone really need to be further disadvantaged before being stripped of all their creature comforts and being thrust into psychological and physical warfare?

Millennials vs. Gen X, One World, Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers all further lumped people into ‘one category’. Extremely unnecessary when Survivor is about each contestants’ individual journey, not ‘all the dudes at the post-office giving it a crack’.

It seems now, that Survivor is doing away with these gratuitous themes. It has been rumored there will be no themes and no tag lines for the two new seasons currently in pre and post-production.

The upcoming season will be known as Survivor 41. That’s it, that’s all, making a bold statement, saying- I am enough.

You know what- I think you are right, Survivor 41.

How the tribes will be divided is anyone’s guess, likely by choosing a buff or perhaps already decided by production. We do know that Survivor 41 will start with 3 tribes and that it is a shortened season, deviating from it’s usual 39 days to a rumored 29.

More details are slowly leaking from the set so keeping checking back for all your Survivor details, including an air date as soon as it is announced!
