After going on maternity leave in December, Vanessa Morgan, who plays Tony Topaz on the set of Riverdale, has returned to the teen soap according to her social media. She posted a new photo of her on the set at Pop’s Choklit Shoppe with the caption, “Back to work looks a lil’ different these days.” holding her new baby boy, who is named – you guessed it – River!

On her IG stories she also posted a video of her and River on their way to work in the back of a car. His little hands are waving in the air excitedly, awww!

Vanessa Morgan returns to Riverdale set!

It looks like her co-workers are excited by the newest behind-the-scenes addition as well, they posted in support in her IG comments. Lili Reinhart posted, “Welcome to the set, lil’ Riv!”, Camila Mendes posted an angel emoji, and Marisol Nichols posted, “Vanessa!!!” with the baby and heart emojis afterward. Fans have been super supportive as well, calling Vanessa a super Mom and saying that the pics make them so happy.

We’re happy for Vanessa, and think little River is cute as a button, at least from what we’ve seen of him. There haven’t been any pictures of his face so far (and that’s fine, he’s a baby), but when there is a reveal, we must remember that he’ll have all of Mom’s gorgeous genes, so, be prepared, world!

Vanessa’s pregnancy was actually written into Riverdale Season 5, so will baby River play a cameo? Perhaps. It’s probably too soon to tell, and we have to remember that babies can only work so many hours a day on hollywood sets. In fact, for infans I’m pretty sure that the time is about 30 minutes, so that’s why Hollywood usually prefers to work with twins because they can get maximum production time in.

It would definitely be interesting to see a Mom/Son dynamic on-screen but we’ll all respect Vanessa’s wishes in the end. It’s hard to believe that just two years ago, Toni Topaz was in high school – at least in real time. There was a Riverdale time-skip so it’s been longer than that in the show. Still, we’ll always remember her as the fiesty Serpent-turned-River Vixen. Stay tuned!!!
