Ioan Gruffudd and Alice Evans have filed for divorce in what has been a shocking turn of events.

The divorce occurred only one month after Alice tweeted that Ioan had informed her that he no longer loved her. This was all out of the blue, given that they had been married for 20 years and shared two daughters: Ella, 11, and Elsie, 7.
At the time of the revelation, Alice tweeted: “Sad news. My beloved husband/soulmate of 20 years, Ioan Gruffudd, has announced he is to leave his family, starting next week. Me and our young daughters [sic] are very confused and sad. We haven’t been given a reason except that he ‘no longer loves me. I’m so sorry.”
Although the tweet above has been taken down, Alice’s comments on that thread were quite telling. It seemed that the couple had been going through something, but it was not that serious as Alice did not see a divorce coming. She had also tweeted: “Six months of harassment. I cannot live anymore like this.” Ioan was not named in that tweet, but there was a high chance that Alice was referring to him.
It has been a difficult period for Alice. Nevertheless, she has vowed to pick herself up and put on a brave face. After all, she has two daughters who will still be very much in need of their father. In a post to her fans on Instagram, she said: “I never thought this would happen to us. I am still fighting against it because I love our kids, and I still love him.”
But something has happened inside his head, and whatever it is, I don’t see him coming back to us. The pain is excruciating, but I am stronger than an ox, and though I weep all day when my kids aren’t looking, at night I add up figures and plan futures for us, and you know what? I will do those two angels right if it’s all I ever do!”
With the divorce still at an early stage, we can expect more drama to unfold. We will have to see how this will play out.
