’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers indicate that you can’t help but feel a little sorry for cast member Alina Kasha on Before the 90 days. In spite of knowing her for years, it’s clear to see that fiancé Caleb Greenwood didn’t really know what he was getting into when he set out to date a disabled woman.
He didn’t want her friend Elijah to come along as a wheelchair attendant, so he promised her that he could handle it and it being just those two would be fine. However, Caleb was sorely unprepared for just how much he would have to do.
’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: Is Caleb Greenwood ablelist?
Alina is very able-bodied for someone with her kind of disability. She can walk, just not very far and has to use a wheelchair for the majority of it. However, in Turkey their hotel was not handicap accessible, something that Caleb had never had to think about in all his born days because it’s just not something that you think about when you’re able-bodied.
When it came to carrying things, Alina said that she could only carry her purse and said that even though they could leave the wheelchair in the lobby that she was going to have to have help getting upstairs to their room. She managed to climb one entire flight of stairs, but Caleb had to be a gentleman and carry her up the second one, which would have been really sweet, but you could tell he really wasn’t prepared for it.
Then came the bedroom, Alina was too short to get up on the bed and again required Caleb’s assistance. Afterwards, he said that he was “mentally exhausted” which translated into a pretty lonely night for Alina because he wasn’t used to having to be someone’s second set of legs.
He said that he needed time to process being with a little person , which, again, made me cringe for Alina because as long as he’s known her, certainly he must have given some thought as to how she gets around and functions on a daily basis. Then again, it’s totally up to Alina how much she shares online, and speaking from experience, over text it can be pretty easy to hide one’s physical disability.
That being said, Alina is not a bad person for not telling Caleb the extent of her disability because she doesn’t owe that to anyone except the medical professionals treating her. Still, once they started dating, Caleb could have at least made an attempt to educate himself on basic wheelchair ettiquette.
The less you have to explain yourself to someone, especially someone you love, makes for a much better experience. We can only hope that Caleb starts thinking before their next adventures together. Stay tuned!!!
