Meghan Markle declined to participate in the Suits reboot despite the writers taking the time and effort to create a role for her.
Suits Writers Had Dream Role Written for Meghan Markle
Rumors are swirling that the writers developed a dream role for her. However, Meghan tried to get her company Archewell involved. She made it unmistakably clear that she did not want to participate as an actor.
The legal drama Suits made a resurgence on Netflix. Everyone and their brother was streaming Suits during the summer when the writer’s strike was underway.
A source close to Meghan told the writers that even though she wouldn’t act in the series, she offered to be involved as an executive producer through Archewell. NBC rejected the offer.
However, sources close to Meghan’s company vehemently deny this, saying Archewell would never be involved in such a production.
The buzz started when a spin-off series of Suits was announced last week. Everyone was wondering if Meghan would play a role, and even though one was tailor-made for her, sources have confirmed that she isn’t interested.
Aaron Korsh, who created the original Suits, promises that the show will have the same energy as the original.
Suits was on the air from 2011 to 2019. Meghan’s character on the show, Rachel Zane, was written off in 2017, around the time of the Duchess of Sussex’s marriage to Prince Harry in 2018.
When Meghan walked the red carpet at Variety’s Power of Women, she exclaimed that she had “no idea” that Suits had been the most streamed show on Netflix during the writer’s strike. “Good shows are everlasting,” she said.
Meghan’s Former Co-Star Appeared to Be Dropping Hints
There were also a lot of rumors that Meghan would play a role in the new spin-off when Patrick J. Adams, who portrayed Meghan’s love interest on the show, started posting on social media a bunch of never-before-seen pics from when the show was on the air.
Adams posted several pictures of Meghan posing for the camera and one with a caption beside it that read,
“I miss my friends.”
The posts were later deleted because it was said that it caused a “distraction” from the actor’s strike. Many people thought that Adams was dropping hints that the series would return.
When Adams was interviewed by E! and asked about a comeback of Suits, Adams said,
“Let’s go. I’d do it. I’m ready. Mike and Rachel in Seattle.”
The show suddenly captivated everyone when the first eight seasons of Suits appeared on Netflix. Many discovered a show they had never seen before.
If Meghan was so emphatic about returning to acting and the spotlight, why didn’t she accept the role written for her?
Many speculate that she desperately wants to work in Hollywood, but only behind the camera as a producer.
Meghan and Harry’s Netflix deal comes to an end in September 2025. They made a docuseries about their romance, “Harry and Meghan.” They also made a docuseries about the Invictus Games.
Oddly, Meghan didn’t snatch up this opportunity, especially since the writers went out of their way for her.
