‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers are excited about the prospects of having Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) returning to the show, as are a lot of fans in general.

Since he left, the show has tried to replace him, or at least fill the void until he could return, and it’s been a mixed bag.

Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) is a fun character at times, but he doesn’t have the same type of presence as Jason, but it could come.

And then there’s the “hardening’ of Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) who came out of being held captive and brainwashed for years without issue, but a couple of months in Pentonville changed him?

Okay, we’re just going to chalk Drew up to lazy writing. That’s really the only way to do it. Add in how he’s become a sycophant for Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), and it’s an interesting recipe.

But that could be used as the groundwork for Jason’s return.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Taking over

Since he was forced to leave the show, Steve Burton’s had an interesting run on ‘Days of Our Lives’ as his deprogramming and rehab was far more intense and interesting than Drew’s blink and you miss it recovery.

But now that his run there is over and the controversial vaccine mandate has reportedly been lifted for ‘GH’, there’s a chance he’ll return there.

It’s something Steve has talked about wanting to do, and Jason’s return could be the thing that would allow Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) to retire.

Maurice has hinted it’s been on his mind to retire, and what better way then handing over the keys to the kingdom to his most trusted friend?

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Up for the challenge?

It’s widely accepted that without Maurice and Sonny the show would probably collapse, so it’d make sense that he’s kept around as a sage for Jason, just like in the Godfather.

He could be recurring for scenes here and there and it’d allow the show to not only keep Sonny active but give Jason every chance to succeed.

There are other possible angles as ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers mentioned above, and that involves Drew. There’s a chance Carly is only with him because she sees Jason in him.

By that we mean that he could theoretically still have remnants or more of Jason’s memories in his head and this is Carly’s way of staying close to him.

So when and if Jason returns, Drew will find himself kicked to the curb as the returning prince will take his now available queen and accept his best friend’s offer to run the business.

This is assuming the show will give Jason the same quick recovering period they did Drew.

Should Jason return and allow Sonny to retire to an advisory role? Let us know in the comments below and check back with ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers for the latest updates, spoilers, and speculation around.
