2023 was quite a year for the royals. From Harry’s tell-all book, “Spare,” to Omid Scobie’s “Endgame,” it certainly seems like the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have a score to settle.
While Harry and Meghan were busy trying to turn everyone against the royals, adult animated comedy shows and late-night monologues couldn’t help but take a swing at everybody’s least favorite couple.
Harry and Meghan ended the year by being named on Hollywood Reporter’s biggest losers of the year list. They were the brunt of several jokes and didn’t exactly roll with the punches.
Meghan Was “Upset and Overwhelmed” By South Park’s Parody of Them
Meghan was said to be “upset and overwhelmed” due to being parodied on South Park. The couple were rumored even to be thinking of legal action against the show.
South Park’s spoof of Harry and Meghan was brilliant. In the Worldwide Privacy Tour, the couple were depicted as characters traveling worldwide to tell everyone to leave them alone.
The characters, who want to stay out of the spotlight, go on various talk shows to protest the public, focusing on and talking about them.
They held signs saying, “We want privacy!” and “Stop looking at us!” Harry and Meghan, who didn’t even watch the show, allegedly said they wanted to sue the creators.
Family Guy also parodied them. In the episode featuring the animated characters, the Duke and Duchess are lounging by the pool when their butler comes to give them millions of dollars in checks for “No one knows what.”
“Put them with the rest of them,” Harry said. Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel made fun of Harry’s frost-bitten penis, which was discussed ad nauseam in “Spare.” The audience was in stitches as Kimmel roasted the fallen Prince.
Harry and Meghan Should Lie Low for Now
Harry and Meghan were poked fun at so much this year. It is simply because they provided the media with the necessary fodder to do so.
While everyone knows who Harry and Meghan are and all their secrets, the couple put themselves out there to be overexposed, which typically results in the US falling out of love with celebrities.
It will prove challenging for the Sussexes to move forward because their reputation has been trashed. No one is interested in hearing from them because they have been anywhere and everywhere they could exist.
PR experts have suggested that it would be wise for Harry and Meghan to lay low for a while. They can’t exactly go back to the UK as working royals because Harry is barely on speaking terms with King Charles and Prince William.
The source of contention for the brothers has been and always will be Meghan Markle. That was the reason for the altercation between Harry and Willaim revealed in “Spare.”
The royal racist row certainly didn’t help matters, as King Charles and Kate Middleton’s names were drugs through the mud.
It seems as though the couple has burned some bridges. If they ever will, it will take some time for the public to embrace Harry and Meghan again.
