Just when things were starting to look up in Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez)’s life, news of his father being alive and not wanting to be with them was confirmed and ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers are wondering if anyone will learn from this.
Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) has shown he’s incapable of learning or redeeming himself as a father or a man by constantly playing dead or walking off until he’s sure he can make things work like he wants them to and he keeps control of the Cassadine fortune.
It’s a level of selfishness that’s pretty rare in soaps since only the villains do things like this when they’re licking their wounds and plotting their revenge, which is probably what Nikolas is doing to some extent.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Dealing with the news
While it probably wasn’t the wisest thing for Laura Collins (Genie Francis) to keep trying to track her son down, but she was being a good mom, even if it’ll probably eventually be the death of her.
Plus, now they know for sure that Nikolas is alive and they can be ready for when he comes back and tried to explain why he failed and stayed away for so long.
We expect he’ll still look to protect Ava Jerome (Maura West) so he can have his revenge on her, but there’s no reason for anyone to welcome him back, especially his son.
As for Spencer, nothing much has changed for him except now he knows for sure that Nikolas “ran off.”
Even though Nikolas didn’t at first, it’s no surprise he did and this will officially bury him in Spencer’s mind and there’s no coming back from this.
In fact, ‘General Hospital’ expect this to push Spencer into working even harder to get custody of his brother, and chances are it’ll alienate him from Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali).
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Rotten timing
Spencer will want to share this news with Trina, and she’ll be behind him doing what he has to for his brother’s sake, but it’ll possibly mean the steps they made in New York will be erased, or reversed slightly.
They’ll still be very close, but the added complication of knowing Nikolas is alive and not knowing when he’ll come back could complicate things.
Though it could make them far easier in the custody battle since they know he’s alive and just doesn’t want to be there for his sons, especially his newborn.
If Laura would testify to that Spencer would probably be given full custody without a second’s hesitation, but she won’t and it’ll drag out.
Her desire to not hurt her son is admirable, but considering his actions she’s got to wake up to what he is at some point.
Should Laura give up on Nikolas at this point and focus on the family still there? Let us know in the comments below and check back with ‘General Hospital’ for the latest updates, spoilers, and speculation around.
