Senator Mitch McConnell once again experienced a scary incident of this kind while speaking to the media, marking the second time he’s experienced it in public.
The Kentucky lawmaker appeared to be doing fine when speaking to media on Wednesday in Covington, KY, discussing a Chamber of Commerce issue. However, he took a long pause when a reporter asked him about seeking reelection.
Sen. McConnell stood there motionlessly and seemed to lose focus, just like he did a month before on Capitol Hill. One of his assistants eventually intervened and inquired about his understanding, but he didn’t even acknowledge her and remained still, just looking into space.
The video abruptly ends as the assistant requests some privacy from the press.
Senator Mitch McConnell UNFIT, Completely Freezes Again During Another Public Speech
This comes just months after the first time this happened, and many believe he may have had a medical episode, even though his staff never formally labeled the previous occurrence as such. His health is now likely to be the subject of even more inquiries and scrutiny.
Keep in mind that earlier this year, Sen. McConnell also took a bad fall and spent some time in the hospital. He now holds the position of Senate Republican leader.
This is why we need term limits and to shuffle these folks out the door. Any other job would have told you to go home, fired them or put them on a leave of absence. Yet, we continue to let these people run our lives.
This is a completely bipartisan issue, and left and right can come together to agree that senators should not be in there until they die. There needs to be a retirement age or term limit that keeps this from happening. We need fresh blood, and waiting 100 years between each position isn’t doing it for America.
What do you think? How long should term limits be, and do you think that Mitch McConnell should still be in his position of power after experiencing these scary moments? Let us know in the comments below.
