Lately, Selena Gomez has gotten a lot of mention in Britney Spears’s IG posts and we’re all wondering why. Selena hasn’t said anything directly to Britney as far as we can tell, but Britney seems to have a lot to say to her… at least over IG.
It seems there was one past speech that Britney was especially triggered by, when Selena said that she didn’t want to see anyone’s bodies on Instagram, that she would rather know what is in a person’s heart. Great sentiment, right? Apparently, not according to Britney Spears, in fact it would seem that Britney thinks that Selena is being sort of a hypocrite about the whole thing.
What is a Britney Spears’s beef with Selena Gomez?
“Don’t you just love the nerve of women who stand firmly getting awards and speak on their beliefs about not showing their bodies on instagram ???!!!!!” said Britney of Selena’s speech, “They say ‘This is NOT something I would do’ yet those women are the very ones who get 4 million dollar budget videos made about sucking and licking on homemade ice cream !!!!” which seemed to be a reference to Selena’s video with kpop group Blackpink for the song “Ice cream” but if you see the video there really isn’t any eating to be had and it consists of the girls mostly just dancing around making suggestive references about eating ice cream.
It would seem that Britney feels a little called out for embracing a decidedly nude phase in her life and posting by her body on Instagram. Thing is, Selena wasn’t actually talking to her directly, we’re pretty sure that she was perhaps addressing the underage fans that she has who might get those kinds of ideas from others’ social media and perhaps Selena felt a certain responsibility to them in particular, but Britney was not done yet.
“So the next time I see someone with a big budget video sucking on lollipops yet giving righteous speeches shaming other women for exposing their bodies, I would like to tell those people don’t be a hypocrite as you suck on your lollipop having HUGE budget dreams …,” she continued with, ““why would you stand firmly against girls getting attention JUST LIKE YOU and they have absolutely nothing ????”
Okay we get it, Britney. What prompted this sudden onslaught of an attack though? We don’t exactly know. Theories are out there but we are largely wondering what on earth could have prompted Britney’s sudden vitriol towards Selena. We’ll keep an eye out for cluesm. Stay tuned!!!
