The journalist who initially reported on accusations of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bullying of two personal assistants at Kensington Palace has called their response of a “smear” campaign against them ‘ludicrous.’

The story was released in 2021 after being put in an internal email back in October 2018. This was just days before the couple’s controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey that damaged relations with the firm.
The said journalist, Valentine Low, had this to say: “That’s a ludicrous allegation because, if you read what I wrote, Buckingham Palace does not emerge well from this. They messed up because they did nothing.
“These allegations of bullying were made and they just sat on it. So the idea that Buckingham Palace should put this out is a joke.” Much in the same way, Harry had a few choice words to say about the dynamics with the firm when it came to his memoir, Spare.
In his book, Harry recalled a meeting regarding Megxit which had gotten out of control to the point where his brother, Prince William, had screamed and shouted at him. Not only that, but the timing of the bullying allegations against the Sussexes was contentious.
It coincided with the deterioration in health of the late Prince Philip, much like Harry and Meghan’s Oprah interview. However, Valentine downplayed any suggestions that there was malice on the firm’s part.
His following comments confirmed as much: “So the only way to make sure that they got heard was to make sure their story came out before Oprah. So it’s not some evil palace conspiracy. It’s just the way these young people suffered, in their view, at the hands of Meghan.”
Ultimately, the Sussexes have taken this personally which was shown by virtue of Harry’s accusing the firm of planting stories against them. And there is no getting away from that.
