British Royal News suggests that Prince Philip was so upset by the way that he was portrayed on The Crown that he was seriously considering suing the producers of the hit Netflix series. That’s because he was none too pleased by the way the series made him look like a philandering husband to the Queen of England. Here’s what you need to know.
Prince Philip Wanted To Sue The Producers Of The Crown
According to The Sun, there was one point in which the Duke of Edinburgh actually spoke to his lawyers about the supposed false portrayal of him on The Crown. In fact, watching the series left him “deeply upset.”
Hugo Vickers, a royal historian and author, said: “I know Prince Philip consulted his lawyer about it, to ask ‘What can I do about it?’ He was very upset about the way that was portrayed. He was human. He could be hurt like anybody else.”
Not only that, but there was one episode in particular that left Prince Philip reaching for the remote to shut his television set off. Vickers said, l. “I remember sitting next to the Duke of Edinburgh at a dinner, and him being so upset about it and what it [The Crown] was saying about him.”
One source close to the situation even says that Prince William has been left quite upset with The Crown as well because he believes that the series is damaging the royal family’s reputation. A friend close to the situation said, “He has spoken about it, and now, as it is coming closer to the present, he is particularly concerned about it. William does think it is damaging. The royal family know a lot of it is nonsense, but it is really harsh and hurtful.”
Prince William Has Been Left Upset Too
So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the matter. Back in 2021, Prince Harry had said that he had watched parts of The Crown and that he enjoyed its entertainment value. Now, whether or not he believes if the storylines are actually true is a different matter.
