The Duchess of Sussex’s comments arrived on the latest episode of her ‘Archetypes’ podcast on Spotify. During the course of that process, Meghan made a distinction between the the way that men and women were perceived for their sexual experiences.
Markle made it clear in absolutely no uncertain terms that women often got the short end of the stick, while men were praised for their sexual behaviours. In her comments on the episode, she said: “A man, if he is a player, out having fun or whatever he’s doing, it’s often celebrated.
“Even heralded. But for a woman, I don’t care if she’s perhaps the most successful woman in finance in her mid-50s, I promise you, someone will still go, ‘But she was such a slut in college.”
Nevertheless, those comments have to be read in light of Markle’s own behaviour. She had recently been very vocal about how she ended up leaving her role as a briefcase model on Deal or No Deal since she was made to feel like a bimbo.
However, her comments came under extensive scrutiny when she would later go on to take a role on ‘90210,’ where her character was giving oral sex to another man in a car. What this goes on to suggest is that Meghan has played a part in some of the negative stereotypes and stigmas that she often speaks out against.
With that being said, the fans on social media were very brutal towards Meghan. And in the process of doing so, they called out her double standards. One person wrote: “Says the yacht girl,” while another person stated: “She feels guilty of her history.”
