The royal children sure are growing up fast, aren’t they? Prince William and Kate Middleton have released a new birthday portrait of their daughter Princess Charlotte, who turns 7 on May 2. The young royal, surrounded by bluebells, was snapped by the Duchess of Cambridge in Norfolk. Here’s what you need to know.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released Charlotte’s photo on social media this past weekend. Charlotte and her pet dog Orla, the family cocker spaniel, appear in one of three pictures released ahead of the princess turning seven on Monday.

She is wearing her long hair loose around her shoulders and sporting a fine cable knit blue jumper which matches the color of the flowers around her. In the picture featuring Orla, the dog is looking to its right while Charlotte grins towards the camera, holding flowers in her left hand.
And while there’s no doubt that Charlotte is certainly enjoying all of this attention, one study said back in 2021 that it was her brother Prince George who was the most popular royal kid.
Prince George came out on top with 200,000 Google searches per month with his little sister Princess Charlotte coming in second with 148,000 searches. Prince Louis was third on the list. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son Archie came in fourth while his little sister Lilibet Diana came in fifth.
Apparently, Design Bundles conducted the study to find out who had the most Instagram hashtags. The firm also calculated the global Google searches for 19 royal children from around the world.
So far William and Kate haven’t made any comments as to how they plan on celebrating Charlotte’s seventh birthday.
