Someone hold the phone, turn off the lights and put some Netflix on because things are about to get a little spooky around here. Stars of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things have promised a dark and thrilling new season at the show’s premiere on Saturday. Here’s what you need to know.
Season four of the sci-fi horror drama will be “scarier, gorier and more violent,” warned actor Noah Schnapp, who plays Will. “Be ready for that when you tune in.”
Netflix’s Stranger Things Season 4 Is About To Become Even More Brutal
“It’s brutal,” said Jim Hopper actor David Harbour, while flaunting his custom-designed suit on the red carpet. “[Hopper] has never been as brutal as he is this season …Â He has to fight these horrible threats, you know, monsters, Russian guards, a prison environment, the snowy tundra in bare feet [and] malnutrition.”
Created by The Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things became a worldwide phenomenon after its 2016 debut. The Emmy-winning show is an homage to ’80s pop culture that delivers pulsating sci-fi suspense. For this upcoming season, fans will be introduced to Vecna — a ghoulish, powerful lich that slithers out of the Upside Down to wreak havoc on Hawkins.
“Vecna is a psychological horror that I don’t think we’ve really seen,” Harbour told Variety. “The Upside Down has been this wild west world where there are creatures running around, there’s violence, but we’ve never seen something as calculatedly psychologically evil as this. That’s exciting because he is a true big bad that we’ve needed in the series.”
The fourth season of the science fiction horror drama television series Stranger Things, titled Stranger Things 4, is scheduled to be released worldwide exclusively via Netflix’s streaming service in two volumes, with the first set for May 27, 2022, and the second five weeks later on July 1, 2022.
