From the television show, Chrisley Knows Best, Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley are now on trial for tax evasion and fraud. The trial is underway now in Atlanta and it looks as if the couple had just announced that they were filming another show for E! called “Love Limo” which will be hosted by Todd.
Chrisley Knows Best: The Charges Against Them
The Chrisley’s have been charged with submitted fake documents to different banks when they would apply for loans. They were indicted in August of 2019 and Julie also is charged with submitting a fake credit report and forged bank statements when the couple was trying to rent a home in California. They then refused to pay rent for a few months shortly after renting out the home.
Chrisley Knows Best: The Fraud and Tax Evasion Trial Begins for Todd and Julie Chrisley
Not only are they facing these charges, they also were accused of using a film production company that they own to hide their extra income from the IRS. This was because Todd didn’t want the IRS to know how much money they were making and the fact that he already owed back taxes. These charges have really put them in hot water these days.
The report in the court also read, “Both Chrisleys are charged with one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, five counts of bank fraud, one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States, and one count of tax fraud. Julie Chrisley is also charged with one count of wire fraud and one count of obstruction of justice.” But wait…there’s more!
Their accountant, Peter Tarantino is also being charged with “one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States and two counts of willfully filing false tax returns.” Tarantino’s trial will also coinside along with the Chrisleys. Right now, the Chrisleys are claiming that they are not guilty of any of these charges and will be making their opening statements this week.
The show, “Chrisley Knows Best” was all about their very tight-knit family and it had just been renewed by USA. This would be the 10th season of the show and there was even a spin off show called “Growing Up Chrisley.” The family had moved from Georgia to Tennessee, but now that the trial has started, it looks like they will be spending a lot more time in Georgia after all.
We will continue to monitor this case and follow along when the Chrisley’s trial begins this coming week. You can follow both of them on Instagram as well.
