‘Survivor 42’ spoilers find that it has been 10 days that the game has been afoot, and it seems like it has been 10 days too long for many tribesmen/women.
Last week’s episode was all about our regular viewing pleasure; a reward/ immunity challenge where Aquaman Johnathan saves his tribe’s skin, the producers moving the hidden idol to sit on a very open branch so that “have you even tried to search for it?” Ika would find it, another ‘Prisoner’s Dilemma’ twist from season 41 that led nowhere and scrambling and revotes at another messy Vati tribal council.
However, it was the fissures among each tribe that took center stage during episode 5.
‘Survivor 42’ Spoilers: These Tribes Need A Merge-Stat – What Is Happening With Everyone?
It was a soap opera style foreshadowing for a tribe merge as Taku’s Johnathan had to bite down on a metaphoric leather strap so that he wouldn’t chase Mario Cart enthusiast/the sunniest Canadian in the world, Maryanne around the island with a machete.
Over on Ika’s beach, if Tori rolled her eyes any harder anytime Rocksroy even thought about speaking, we would have likely heard it…all the way from Fiji.
Lastly, deeply divided Vati finally came together to be united in their fury at Daniel as he attempted (but failed, because…Daniel) to provide for the tribe by going snorkelling trying his hand a spear-fishing.
Isn’t Chanelle the clever gal for drawing attention to the fact that Daniel sits out at almost every challenge to protect his shoulder but can suddenly swim with the fishes at leisure (yes, that was my own soap-opera-esque foreshadowing of Daniel’s upcoming demise).
Side note- why didn’t Daniel just say he was going snorkelling spear-fishing/ doing some water therapy on his shoulder?
Second side note- did Vati really want Daniel in the challenges? I mean, he was bested by sand the one and only time he tried to do anything physical for the tribe…
Anyhoo- it is most definitely time for a merge as these folks are about to “turn the car around because you kids are Driving. Me. Nuts!” and it looks like there is going to be VERY little allegiance to the original green, orange and blue once those buffs are dropped.
While I’m all for the mess that is likely to ensue, I am fearful that the Erika Casupanan this-is-how-you-win-the-game “Turn Back Time” challenge may be repeated with Jeff Probst warning the castaways that they aren’t quite merged yet- meaning they will likely pull a Survivor 41 and have an individual immunity from the jump for the losing (who were really the winning) team.
