Warner Bros. Discovery has shut down CNN+ after just launching a month ago. The last day of the service will be on April 30th. CNN Worldwide CEO Chris Licht made a statement about the shutdown saying,
“We have therefore made the decision to cease operations of CNN+ and focus our investment on CNN’s core news-gathering operations and in further building CNN Digital.”
He claims that it’s not about the quality, and appreciates all the work that went into it but it simply wasn’t getting enough subscribers. Gee. I wonder why.
CNN+ Streaming Shutting Down After Just One Month – Leaked Sub Data Shows Hilariously Low Numbers
On March 28th, CNN had a launch party for CNN+ with executives, reporters, and on-air personalities. The team reportedly spent $100 million on the development of the streaming platform, however, after launching there was some data leaked that showed shockingly low numbers of subscribers, and CNN was quickly mocked and ridiculed for its failure.
Brian Stelter of CNN tweeted out that the reason it failed was due to ‘clashing strategies’ amid the WarnerMedia-Discovery merger. However, I think we all know that’s a lie, and the truth is, no one subscribed. According to reports CNN+ had just 150,000 subscribers which is nothing, especially in today’s streaming market and investing hundreds of millions of dollars into it.
No one watches CNN anymore. There’s no way they’re going to pay a subscription fee for more of the lackluster services they offer. The few who had subscribed to CNN+ will receive prorated refunds of the $5.99 a month subscription fee, the company said.
CNN is dying and many people left and right, realize what it is. It is a propaganda machine that doesn’t report accurately and tries to indoctrinate people into their own world. Unfortunately for them, it’s beginning to crash and burn.
