Chael Sonnen has been hit with 11 charges including a felony after his altercation in a hotel back in December of 2021. Prosecutors filed the charges last week and included felony battery by strangulation and 10 other misdemeanor battery charges. In documents obtained by TMZ, officials accuse Sonnen of beating up six people during an altercation at a Las Vegas hotel.
Sonnen had initially had 5 battery citations over the fight, but a judge dismissed the case in January “without prejudice”, meaning the state could refile the charges if chosen to. This may be bad news for Sonnen, as a felony is serious business.
A witness said that they saw Sonnen banging on the door of a hotel room at the Four Seasons around 7 PM on a Saturday night and a physical altercation broke out, however, the reason why is still unknown.

It was said that Sonnen had no real issues in the fight, and that’s understandable as he was a legend in the octagon. The 44-year-old beat the likes of Rampage Jackson, Michael Bisping, and Wanderlei Silva. Since then he’s been on The Ultimate Fighter as a team leader and become one of the best MMA analysts.
It’s unclear if Sonnen will make it out of this without jail time, and until the reasoning of the fight is disclosed, it’s unlikely that he will be able to get out of this. Unless of course, he was provoked and defended himself, though that doesn’t seem to be the case as he was the one pounding on the door allegedly.
