Last week Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin formally accepted an invitation to WrestleMania 38 next month. At the end of an episode of Raw on Monday night, Kevin Owens invited Austin to appear at the event, and a day later, the Texas Rattlesnake accepted the invitation with a video promo that left fans cheering.

Prior to the clip, there were rumors that the legendary wrestler would be coming out of retirement. While he most likely will not be wrestling in an actual match due to his age and injuries, just his appearance is enough to sell tickets and have people tune in to see the icon himself. However, during an interview on The Rich Eisen Show it sounded a little different.

Austin explains why he is going to come back to the WWE and chopped it up to “never say never”. Take a look at what he said below,

“This opportunity comes up, Kevin Owens starts running me down and gets my attention. It was a thing where, I kind of said, ‘I’m never going to get in the ring again.’ In this business, never say never…Once you step into the ring, it’s like stepping onto a football field, that’s where business happens. We don’t know what it’s going to escalate to.”

Austin’s final WWE match took place 19 years ago at WrestleMania 19, when we subsequently retired due to his series of injuries. It sounds like he’s ready to come back though for one last hurrah. Could he actually step into a ring and wrestle Kevin Owens at his age and who do you think would win?

Wrestlemania 38 will be on April 2nd, 2022 and take place in Arlington, Texas.
