Dr. Oz and Herschel Walker were asked to resign their positions from the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition and this has them upset and blaming President Joe Biden of politicizing health. However, there’s actually a reason they are being asked to resign, and it’s because of the Hatch Act of 1939.
Oz and Walker are planning to run for higher office, and therein lies the problem.
“I received this letter on behalf of @POTUS requesting I resign from the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition. It’s sad that he would politicize such an important issue like health. The doctor he should ask to resign is Dr. Fauci, for a multitude of obvious reasons.“

Dr. Oz And Herschel Walker Were Asked To Resign Due To The Hatch Act Of 1939 – But What Is It?
The Hatch Act of 1939 is to prevent pernicious political activities. It mainly prohibits civil service employees in the executive branch except for the President and Vice President. Since they are choosing to run for higher office, they cannot be in the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition for the President.
While Walker and Oz are freaking out on Twitter and accusing Biden of making it a political statement, in reality, it’s a law and they were supposed to walk away from the job when they announced they were running Senate. This makes much more sense than what they were droning on about on Twitter.
However, whether or not this will bolster their campaign is yet to be seen. While at first glance, it looks like Biden had targeted Walker and Oz for their political affiliation, it goes deeper than that and it was just going by the books.
