Just this week, Nikki Shoemaker and Mark Shoemaker announced that they were getting divorced after six years of marriage. The couple was one that fans were not quite sure would make it and it all began with their huge age gap they didn’t seem to be a couple that saw eye to eye on a lot of issues.

Mark made the announcement that he filed for divorce on March 2. He is 64 years old and Nikki is 25 and it seems as if they were having a really tough time in their marriage. Mark wanted the case to be sealed, but the judge denied it.

We first learned about Mark and Nikki in the third season of 90 Day Fiancé. They appeared in the same season as Loren and Alexei Brovarnik. They have a 39-year age gap and fans were concerned why a man his age would want to be with someone as young as her. Many found his attraction to her creepy and they saw a lot of red flags.
Mark met Nikki online shortly after his first divorce. Nikki is from Cebu City in the Philippines, just as his first wife was and this was very bizarre to fans. His first wife also had four children with him. When Mark met Nikki, she was only a teenager and he proposed to her after two days with her. They had quite an intense relationship and they did have issues about their age differences. Viewers also thought it was odd that Nikki was two years younger than Mark’s youngest daughter. The creep factor on their relationship was high!
When the Shoemakers got married, they were asked several times to join the other shows in the franchise and they eventually filed a lawsuit against TLC because they didn’t like the way that they were depicted on the show. The case against TLC was eventually thrown out by a judge in 2017.
Many of their fans are shocked by this news, but as of right now, neither one of them has talked to the press about why they are getting a divorce. Of course, fans have speculations right now, but that is all we can do until we hear what happened between them. Their age difference could be one of the main reasons that they are breaking up, but we will just have to wait and see what they tell the press when they are ready.
