’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers tells us that, in a turn of events that we were not expecting, Ella Johnson cheated on her Chinese fiancé, Johnny. She was adamant about her and Johnny taking a trip to Dubai together, but Johnny was having a hard time fitting a trip to Dubai into his life because he has work, has a young child, and he also financially helps his parents.
(As far as we know there are no social structures in place for the elderly and small children in the People’s Republic of China.) Ella thought that he was deliberately being contrary about it and invited over a male friend because she needed a sympathetic ear…

Ella and her friend ended up doing the deed, and she said that she would rather be honest than be a liar, so she was honest and told Johnny the truth. She said that she did not intend on the sex happening, it just did, and that the reason why it did was because physical touch was so important to her.

We didn’t really expect this out of Ella, because while we would expect a partner like Johnny, who is straight-sized, to step out on a plus-sized partner, we do a double-take when its the plus-sized partner who’s getting action on the side. We’re not condoning Ella’s actions, far from it in fact, but it does beg the question…
When in a relationship, do we tend to expect plus-size partners to cheat less? Are they held to a higher moral standard than their straight-sized counterparts? Society tends to view a plus-sized person as a much less, shall we say, sexual being than a straight-sized person anyway, so would we still be as appalled at Ella’s cheating if she were a straight-sized girl?
Personally, I would because Ella’s cheating was not a case of Johnny’s failure as a boyfriend but rather due to her own personal shortcomings. Even she admitted that physical touch and male approval is one of her downfalls in a relationship, so if Johnny had agreed to meet her in Dubai and possibly risk his re-entry into his home country would things have been better?
Relationship-wise, maybe, but Ella is being extremely selfish and short-sighted, again, something that we did not expect from her, but it again begs the question… what exactly were were expecting from Ella? Food for thought. Stay tuned!!!
