On 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, Ella Johnson has gotten a lot of backlash for Asian fetish. She lives in Iowa and has started to share her love story with her “Asian prince”, Johnny. She found him on a Facebook group for Asian men who love white women and she has already fallen in love with him. She told cameras that their love is different than anything she has ever known, but her friends and family are pretty worried about her.

Part of the reason that Ella has gotten so much backlash, according to her, is the way that the show is edited. From what we have seen, she generalizes all Asian men and the culture. She says that this is all part of the editing of the show. There have been plenty of comments on her social media pages and many of her followers called her racist and that she lives in a fantasy world that really doesn’t exist.

Ella has been open about the poor childhood that she had and the relationships in her life that destroyed how she thought about men. She has had boyfriends take advantage of her and she started to eat more because she felt that food was her escape from the heartaches and turmoil in her life. There has been so much negativity thrown at her and now she is doing her best to turn it into something extremely positive.
One Reddit user wanted to share Ella’s thoughts on her publicity these days. She wrote, “So I guess bring on the hate and malcontents. I love myself inside and out lol. Took me awhile but I made it.” It does seem as if Ella wears her heart on her sleeve, but she has built quite a tough skin from her years of being bullied and used. This seems to have made her have a tougher skin and this helps her to take the backlash with ease.
Ella went on to write about editing, “You can say what you want but the show is only so long and can only film so much of who we really are. You may see me as an anime freak, but I really do respect Asian culture. And I had a blast with my crew shooting this show. Wish you all the best and I was talking about Kurama.”
