You may not know the twins by name, but you will likely recognize they’re nipped and tucked faces with giant jaws and prominent cheek bones. No, we aren’t speaking about Darcey Silva and Stacey Silva of 90 Day Fiancé fame, we’re speaking about French television personalities, Grichka Bogdanoff and Igor Bogdanoff.
The Bogdanoff Twins – French “Plastic Surgery” Entertainers Die Within A Week Of Each Other
Grichka and Igor were television presenters, producers, and scientific essayists(-ish) who’ve been mainstays on European television since the 1970s. The twins presented various subjects in science fiction, popular science, and cosmology, but it was their heavy plastic surgery that saw them become infamous throughout the world.
Now the pair have died–within a week of each other, their unusual passing capping off a life that was anything but usual, also.
Who are the Bogdanoff twins?
The Bogdanoffs are descended from European aristocracy. They were raised by their grandmother in her castle in the south of France where she had moved after losing her title (she was married to an Austrian prince) and place in society due to having an affair and becoming pregnant (with the twins’ mother) to African-American lyric tenor and composer, Roland Hayes.
Igor and Grichka became interested in the sciences and first debuted on television to host popular science fiction series Temps X when they were 30.
They went on to appear on a variety of science shows, mostly dealing with science fiction and space exploration.
Both brothers received PhDs when they were 50 and soon became embroiled in the “Bogdanoff affair”. A series of articles about what happened during the Big Bang penned by the brothers were published in renowned peer-reviewed scientific journals. It was soon discovered there was zero scientific merit in their papers and the men were widely panned in the scientific world, with their peers believing that the entertainers had punked them all.
The brothers denied it was all a hoax, suing those who claimed it, but then, they also denied getting any plastic surgery. Instead they insisted that their changes in appearance resulted from their dabbling in unspecified “technologies and experimentations”.
“We are proud of having faces like extraterrestrials,” they had claimed in 2010.
In recent years the brothers became a crypto meme, but all their notoriety and fame came to an end when they were both admitted into the hospital emergency room on December 15 with Covid-like symptoms.
Grichka was the first to die, on December 28th. Igor passed away on January 3. He was already in an artificial coma at the time of his brother’s passing. Both men were 72 and unvaccinated according to Igor’s second wife, Amelie de Bourbon-Parme, also of European aristocracy (but titleless due to all sorts of “illegitimacy” in the family tree) and almost 30 years Igor’s junior.
“They were both 72, they were in great shape, and they thought they were untouchable,” Ms. Bourbon-Parme said of their decision to remain unvaxxed. She described how they had always been reluctant to face their own mortality. Death, she said, “was a taboo topic for them, and at the same time it fascinated them.”
In regards to the twins’ deaths happening so close to each other she said, “It’s destiny. They couldn’t be separated for long.”
The twins’ joint funeral, which happened in Paris on Monday, January 10 was attended by hundreds of mourners, including leaders and vocal members of France’s antivax community.
