Perhaps one of the biggest Pro Bowl snubs this season was Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. Despite having an incredible season and playing his butt off in the playoffs, passing for 9 touchdowns and 0 interceptions, his name was left off the list.

However, he was selected as an alternate should another quarterback not be able to play. He ended up having an opportunity to play though, but declined the invitation and has elected to give his body some recovery time after the intense season.

Allen wrote that with the type of quarterback he is, he sustains a lot of abuse throughout the season and will be taking time to recover.

“Unfortunately I will be declining the invitation to play in the pro bowl this year in order to allow my body to rest and recover from the harshness of the season. The type of quarterback I am, I obtain a lot of bumps and bruises along the road of a season, so I will use this time to let my body heal.”

Allen is perhaps one of the, if not the toughest quarterback in the league. I would put the L.A. Rams Matthew Stafford up there, but the way Allen plays with his big body and legs is brutal. He will make contact, and while other players like Lamar Jackson use his feet a lot, he’s much more elusive and attempts to avoid most contact.

With a tough loss to Kansas City last week, Allen will be taking the rest of the time to rest and relax, and we can’t blame him. With the Pro Bowl being more of a scrimmage with some of the best players in the league and simply for fun, it’s probably best for Allen to take the time off. Even though it is just a scrimmage, there’s always the possibility of getting hurt.
