’90 Day Fiancé’ is now coming up to its 9th season and has spawned an endless stream of spin-offs including the currently airing 90 Day Fiancé: Before the Days season 5. But all the way back in 2014, during season 2, fans of the TLC juggernaut were introduced to Jason Hitch from Florida and his Brazilian fiancé Cássia Tavares.
While it has been 7 years since he was on screens, the 90 Day family is showing an out pouring of condolences for Jason’s family after he passed away on Tuesday night.
’90 Day Fiancé’: Season 2 Star, Jason Hitch Has Died of Covid Complications
Jason’s sister Shannon made a statement that her brother passed away from complications of Covid-19 inside the ICU of a hospital in Florida. She and the rest of Jason’s family was with him when he died, holding his hand in his final moments.
Shannon said that Jason was not vaccinated and did not have preexisting medical conditions, to her or the rest of the family’s knowledge. She did say “other factors” may have been involved in his death but did not elaborate.
It is unknown if Cássia was there as the couple had split twice after their time on 90 Day Fiancé, breaking up in 2017 but reconciling shortly after, then divorcing for good in 2018 after Cássia had made domestic violence claims against her now ex husband.
Cássia was actually dating Jason’s friend when Jason and Cássia first met online. The pair bonded after Cássia and Jason’s friend broke up and Cássia flew to the USA to move in with Jason and his father in Spring Hill Florida. All of this, including Jason’s frugal ways were captured by TLC’s cameras.
Jason was a first lieutenant in the Army reserves in Florida. Shannon told TMZ her brother was a “true and honest shooter, a great officer and leader to his men.”
Jason was only 45 years old
RIP Jason and condolences to the Hitch family and Jason’s friends.
