Former 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick Compares NFL Combine To a “Slave Auction” In Netflix Documentary ‘Colin in Black And White’

Ex-NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick‘s new Netflix Documentary ‘Colin in Black And White’ has been released and is sitting in the Top 10 on the platform. However, there are several obvious and blatant things that stand out that are easily falsified and straight-up lied about.

At the very beginning of the first episode, Kaepernick boldly compares the NFL Combine to a slave auction. Yes, because young men competing for the opportunity to play in the National Football League and the possibility to earn millions of dollars in their career by their own choice is completely the same as slavery.

It even graphically shows and compares these actions in reenactments and videos. As you can imagine, this has created quite the response. So, why do people still give Kaepernick the time of day?

Before I go further, let me state, I’m all for everyone having their voices heard. I don’t want Kaepernick silenced, canceled, or anything else we do to people we don’t agree with these days. Rather, I just want to point out why he’s flat out wrong in this case, and how creating something like this sets his movement back, and not forward.

By perpetuating the idea that the NFL Combine is like a slave auction, he’s essentially telling young men that should they make it to a combine or draft, that they should automatically assume that people in leadership/team owner positions are going to treat them like slaves, thus creating a bad attitude from the start.

Kaepernick is not telling these young men how to act SHOULD a disgusting situation arise in which someone does do something racist, but rather just assume that everyone IS racist, which is blatantly arrogant and wrong.

Secondly, slavery is not solely the history of African Americans, and frankly, slavery still continues around the world today. In fact, Nike, the company that so graciously endorses Kaepernick and pays him millions of dollars is one of the leading companies accused of slave labor. Plus, the NFL is not an entirely black populous. In fact, the NFL is 57% black or African American, while 25% is white, and the difference is made up by every other race.

The conclusion that Kaepernick has come to is patently insane, no matter which way you look at it. I would love to hear from the 57% (the folks Kaepernick is talking about) of the NFL that are making millions of dollars playing the game that they love with teammates they love tell us how it’s akin to slavery.

Colin Kaepernick‘s Netflix documentary is misleading, racist, disgusting, and verifiably false. It’s incredibly disrespectful to the people who have or are currently suffering from slavery. I’m not the only one either, as every video and news coverage of this documentary has gotten similar responses.

Just on the NBC clip from above, people were furious with his comments, “Well, you will never get paid as a slave. So, this whole thing is stupid and Colin trying to get more clout from it. Alright, moving on.“, “My 16-year-old black son really got a good laugh from that. I still have hope.“, and “That is so funny. He does realize he has the option to not participate and walk away? Is he really comparing himself to those who did not?

Colin Kaepernick, Donald Trump, Joe Biden… These folks only want to divide us. Left, right, black, white, it makes no difference. Go outside and talk to your neighbor. We’re not so different. Quit letting them tell us we are.
