Black Widow star, Scarlett Johansson is said to have reached an agreement with Disney over the lawsuit she took out against the entertainment giant.

Johansson had sued Disney, accusing the studio of sabotaging her profits to the tune of tens of millions of dollars in box office bonuses when they released Black Widow on Disney + concurrently with releasing the Marvel film in theatres.

Johansson had been seeking $50 million in lost wages and though the terms of the settlement have not been made public,  Johansson put out a statement on Thursday saying, “I am happy to have resolved our differences with Disney. I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done together over the years and have greatly enjoyed my creative relationship with the team. I look forward to continuing our collaboration in years to come.”

Disney, too, is said to be happy everything has been tied up and the dispute is now resolved.

“I’m very pleased that we have been able to come to a mutual agreement with Scarlett Johansson regarding ‘Black Widow,’” stated Alan Bergman, chairman of Disney Studios Content. “We appreciate her contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and look forward to working together on a number of upcoming projects, including Disney’s ‘Tower of Terror.’”

Many were surprised that Johansson is still on board with the Tower of Terror film, based on the popular Disney’s Hollywood Studios ride, and that Disney is going ahead with the project with Johansson attached.

A slinging match had followed the lawsuit with Disney accusing the new mom of 2 of showing “callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic” after earning $20 million for her role.

In response, Johansson’s team claimed Disney had made an unnecessary “direct attack on her character.”

Black Widow’s originally debut date of May 1, 2020 was postponed to July 9, 2021 due to the pandemic. The theatrical release and $30 premier access on Disney + has so far earned $125 million on streaming and $367 million box office gross.
