Could it be that he’s had enough with all of the royal drama or is he just looking to spend a little time on his own? That’s what some royal fans can’t help but wonder as there’s a new report that suggests Prince Charles has “distanced” himself from the rest of the royal family.
This comes after the Prince of Wales looked like he was keeping his social distance away from Prince William and Kate Middleton during the premiere of the latest James Bond movie, “No Time to Die.” Here’s what you need to know.
Is Prince Charles ‘Distancing’ Himself From The Other Royals?
Discussing the premier on the Royally Obsessed podcast, host Roberta Fiorito noticed that Prince Charles didn’t appear to be himself during the red carpet event.
That might be because of all the negative headlines the royal family has been making lately, including all the drama with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle along with the more recent “cash for honors” scandal involving Prince Charles’ charity, the Prince’s Trust Foundation.
Fiorito told the podcast: “The one thing I can’t stop thinking about is the picture of the four of them and how close William and Kate look compared to how to spread out Camilla, and honestly Charles is, in that group shot.”
She added, “In my mind, I am thinking physically they are distancing themselves, a little bit. There has been so much scandal around Charles with the cash for access stuff. I just feel like it is not a good time for him, his name has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. So I couldn’t stop think about how he is physically distanced from them.”
Just last month it was reported that Michael Fawcett, a former assistant valet to Charles, had temporarily stepped down from his role as chief executive of The Prince’s Foundation while an investigation into allegations about his conduct takes place.
Fawcett is accused of using his position and influence to help Saudi businessman Mahfouz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfouz obtain an honorary Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, according to the Sunday Times. Fawcett was paid to coordinate the title and help Mahfouz receive a “golden visa,” through which he hoped to achieve UK citizenship and residency, the report alleges.
Mahfouz has denied any wrongdoing, as has Prince Charles.
