So, does this mean what we think it means? Ice Cube has just let out a “hell nah” sigh as there’s a new report that says he’s decided to exit a movie called “Oh Hell No” due to the project’s vaccine mandate. Here’s what you need to know.
One source close to the situation told The Hollywood Reporter that Ice Cube refused to fulfill the request of producers to get vaccinated, subsequently walking away from a reported $ 9 million payout.
Ice Cube Backs Out Of Movie Due To COVID-19 Request
Ice Cube was slated to co-star with Jack Black, with whom he partnered on the project in June. Filmmaker Kitao Sakurai planned to shoot the flick this winter in Hawaii, and producers asked the cast to get vaccinated first.
Producers have the option “to implement mandatory vaccination policies for casts and crew in Zone A” — where cast and crew work in close proximity — “on a production-by-production basis,” according to an agreement made in July between studios and actor guilds.
Throughout the pandemic, Ice Cube has promoted mask-wearing and even helped raise money to benefit frontline health care workers. Sony, Ice Cube’s rep, his talent agency and the film’s producers have all declined to comment.
