The newest trailer for Matt Reeve’s ‘The Batman‘ looks pretty undeniable. Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of the famous hero looks incredible and we’re in for a real treat. Alongside him will be Catwoman, played by Zoe Kravitz. Not a big deal, however, for MCU star Elizabeth Olsen, she’s been getting grilled on Twitter for a comment she made a decade ago.

For a long time, many fans have considered Michelle Pfeiffer’s role as Selina Kyle/Catwoman as the best of the on-screen actresses that have donned the cat ears, including Elizabeth Olsen. In fact, in 2011 in an interview with Elle, Olsen expressed her admiration for the actress saying no matter how many times Hollywood redos the iconic DC character, Pfeiffer is the only Catwoman in her book.

Elizabeth Olsen Called Racist For… Liking Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman?

So, she adores Pfeiffer and her Catwoman role… Who doesn’t? I know I do. As soon as Batman Returns came out I instantly had a crush on the woman. Unfortunately for Olsen, this has led to her getting called a racist because it’s 2021…

Everyone pls just listen to Elizabeth Olsen, Michelle Pfeiffer is the only CATWOMAN šŸ‘‡ pic.twitter.com/IGFaujRNvL

If she’s the only one why is she the most inaccurate one? https://t.co/RdjRsx5MAL

These responses go on for days, and yes, there are so many things wrong with these responses. First of all, this comment and her opinion are from a decade ago. Secondly, Pfeiffer is widely regarded as one of the best to put on the costume. Thirdly, Zoe Kravitz is not the first woman of color to put the claws on. In the original 60s’ Batman television show starring Adam West, Eartha Kitt was Catwoman.

Not The Only Issue For Elizabeth Olsen…

In February earlier this year, the actress was also called out for describing her Marvel Cinematic Universe character Wanda Maximoff as a gypsy in 2015 on Graham Norton, which has also created a stir over the offensiveness of the word to Romani people. She again used the term, which riled people up, calling her every nasty word in the book. Critics pointed out the fact that Olsen was told the G-word was offensive then, and still decided to use it, and such refused to be “educated”.

However, people have taken her using the G-word and extrapolated to possibly mean that she’s racist against black people.Ā In no way does that mean she hates black people. In no way is she wrong for stating her opinion.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Michelle Pfieffer and are you looking forward to the new Batman film? Let us know in the comments below.
