Let’s face it: Prince Charles has not had the best of years. First, he was thrown under the bus by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during their seismic interview with Oprah Winfrey. Then, his father Prince Philip passed away in April.

If that weren’t enough, his brother Prince Andrew has been making headlines as he’s being sued for sexual assault by a former alleged sex trafficing victim. And now he’s being dragged for a cash for honors scandal that includes one of his top aides, Michael Fawcett. Here’s what you need to know.

Prince Charles Called ‘Disgraceful’ By Royal Critics For Cash For Honors Scandal

Over the weekend it was reported that a former aide to Prince Charles, Michael Fawcett, was forced to step down from his role as the head of the Prince’s Foundation amid claims of misconduct. Michael Fawcett is accused of using his position and influence to help Saudi businessman Mahfouz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfouz obtain an honorary Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, according to the Sunday Times.

Fawcett was paid to coordinate the title and help Mahfouz receive a “golden visa,” through which he hoped to achieve UK citizenship and residency, the report alleges.

And now one journalist from the royal rota is calling out Prince Charles for his sketchy behavior. GB presenter Dan Wootton wrote on Twitter: “Prince Charles should be preparing to become king. Instead, his staff are using his influence to secure honours for a wealthy Saudi donor and businessman. Disgraceful. LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!”

When one Twitter user asked if there is anyone left in a position of power that has a smidgen of integrity, Dan replied with, “The Queen. That’s it.”

For the record, Prince Charles denies any wrongdoing. Buckingham Palace released a statement that said: “The Prince of Wales has no knowledge of the alleged offer of honours or British citizenship on the basis of donation to his charities and fully supports the investigation now underway by The Prince’s Foundation.”
