Oprah With Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special, which first aired in the U.S. on March 7, was called out among the five nominees of the Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series Or Special category when the noms were announced this week. Here’s what you need to know.
Is Prince Harry Going To Attend The Emmys This Year?
As many fans know, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah was watched by more than 17 million people on the night that it was aired, and by 50 million people worldwide. During the two-hour special, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex went on the record about the many falsehoods that have been written and said about them in the press.
They also shared new insights about the British Royal Family and suggested that there might be a royal racist behind closed doors. If that weren’t enough, Meghan said that she experienced suicidal thoughts while she was pregnant in 2019, while Prince Harry said that that his father Prince Charles had cut him off both financially and emotionally.
And now a report says that Oprah must choose either Harry or Meghan or someone from her loyal production team to go to the Emmy’s this year, as she just has one more ticket at her disposal.
An LA publicist told MailOnline: “The Emmys has been effectively shrunk down to a bare minimum. The four ticket allocation is a hard rule, with the four invitees being decided by the show boss or leading star. For Harry and Meghan that means Oprah, who is the star and production boss, has the final say. She has a tough choice because there is a professional and personal list to invite. The Emmys usually has stars attend with agents, PRs, stylists, managers and loved ones. It is now a tough call for the talent on who they feel should be their plus one… and then another two!”
So far Oprah herself has not made any comments about the matter.
