Are you ready for some more Tiger King? While this certainly might give a lot of people some serious PTSD from the earlier months of the COVID-19 lockdown back in the spring of 2020, Netflix has decided to give us some coronavirus nostalgia by bringing “Tiger King” back for a second season of the series. Here’s what you need to know.

The first season of the documentary series told the story of eccentric wildlife breeder Joe Exotic, who was later jailed for plotting the murder of an animal rights activist.

The streaming giant tweeted this past week that the second season will premiere on November 17. The real crime series became a global hit, with 64 million households streaming it within the first four weeks of its March 2020 premiere. An after-show episode, titled The Tiger King And I, was later added to the streaming service in 2020.

Meanwhile, Carole Baskin, who was also one of the stars of the original Netflix hit, slammed the announcement this week. She said that while she knew directors Rebecca Chaiklin and Eric Goode were filming additional content, she didn’t think it would be released so soon.

Speaking to Variety in an interview, Carole said, “I know some people who have been involved in it and they were doing more filming, so I assumed at some point they would come out with a Tiger King 2. It took them five years to put together the first one, so I thought it would be a lot longer.”

She also noted that both Rebecca and Eric reached out to “clear the air” with her, but she told them to “lose [her] number” because the show was not at all what they had agreed they were working on. “I wouldn’t call Eric Goode or Rebecca Chaiklin true documentarians. I mean that was just a reality show dumpster fire,” Carole said.
