With the cat let out of the bag by Page Six’s photos of a very pregnant Olivia Munn last weekend, resulting in John Mulaney trending on Twitter shortly after, the comedian has decided to confirm all the rumors and speculation. He and girlfriend Olivia are expecting their first baby.
The father-to-be confirmed the news on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Tuesday. Speaking to his friend and former Saturday Night Live co-writer, Seth Meyers, John opened up about his ‘heluva year’.
John Mulaney Confirms He And Olivia Munn Are Expecting
“I packed a lot into this [year]” the stand-up comic began. “Is it September now? Since last September, I went to rehab in September, okay, I got out in October, I move out of my home from my ex-wife [Anna Marie Tendler]. I host ‘Saturday Night Live’ on Halloween. I relapse on drugs.”
John also detailed the intervention that Seth and some other close friends staged. This led to John, who has been candid about his cocaine and alcohol struggles, heading back to rehab for 2 more months.
It was during John’s 2021 rehab stint that Olivia Munn got tongues wagging. She sent a VERY supportive tweet, sending SO much love to John while he attempted to get clean.
John got out of rehab in February and that is when the general public learned he was separating from Anna Marie. As per John’s story to Seth, it actually happened back in October of 2020.
John and Olivia, who had met back in 2013 at Seth’s wedding, began to date directly after John left his 2021 rehab- according to his timeline.
“[Olivia] got to date me right out of recovery, which is what they call a reverse catch,” the 39 year old joked. “I got into this relationship that’s been really beautiful with someone incredible who has like, dealt with the non-coked up Bambi version of me and that’s been very incredible and she’s kind of held my hand through that hell. And we are having a baby, together.”
There were zero people on the planet surprised by this announcement after seeing Page Six’s photos of Olivia’s big bump, yet Olivia is still to comment on her pregnancy herself.
At least we got one party to confirm- we’re just wondering if John’s sponsor’s head has exploded yet- a baby out of rehab is generally not one of the recommended steps!
