‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star Erika Jayne is likely to be in and out of court for many years as a judge ruled that former clients-cum-victims of Jayne’s estranged husband, Tom Girardi, will be able to come after the reality star with a collections lawsuit.
The Ruigomez family were former clients of Girardi. They were awarded $11 million in a lawsuit against Girardi last year after the lawyer embezzled Joe Ruigomez’s initial court winnings.
The survivor of the San Bernadino Gas Pipeline explosion saw very little of his winnings and hoped after beating his shady lawyer in court, he would recoup the money owed to him.
‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’: Judge Rules That Erika Jayne Can Be Sued by Husband’s Victims
Another blow was dealt to the Ruigomez family when the judge put a hold on collections against Girardi and his law firm’s assets after the company filed for bankruptcy later that same the year.
An investigation into their personal and professional finances by an appointed bankruptcy trustee ensued.
Now, in a much needed win for the Ruigomez family, the judge’s latest ruling gives them the green light to file a lawsuit to collect the $11 million from Girardi’s estranged wife- the “I had to give up my Lamborghini and all I got was this brand new Range Rover for my troubles” reality television and Broadway star, Erika Jane.
This decision was made as a result of the an investigation uncovering that Jayne’s various businesses, including one that was opened after the embezzlement scandal came to light, have been given over $20 million in loans over a multi-year time span from Girardi Keese, her estranged husband’s law firm .
Uncovered court documents read: “All assets identified by the Ruigomez family shall be subject to all rights of the Girardi bankruptcy estate and the [Girardi Keese] bankruptcy estate, which parties shall meet and confer in good faith to determine the character/ownership of the identified assets,”.
“The Ruigomez Family, the Girardi Trustee and the GK Trustee shall cooperate with each other with their collection efforts against Erika.”
The Ruigomez family are not the only victims of Girardi’s embezzlement so it will be interesting to see who else will be going after Jayne’s assets. Her financial records have been subpoenaed and Jayne and her legal team are set to appear in court again later this month.
