NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers reveal the show didn’t come away with the Daytime Emmy for Best Writing. That honor, instead, went to The Young and the Restless. Based on what we’ve seen, we think this was the wrong call. Here are several reasons we believe DOOL should’ve walked away with the award.
NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: The Time Jump
First, ‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers reveal we’ve made our feelings on the Time Jump clear. It was a Masterclass in writing and being an evil writer. They kept the heart of the show while blowing it up at the same time.
Viewers had no idea what led to some of the bizarre circumstances of the missing year in Salem. However, we were given clues, little by little, as the following episodes aired.
Not to mention, this led to a crazy twist with who really caused the accident that killed Adrienne Johnson (Judi Evans). We didn’t see the real answer coming, but it made sense to us once this all played out.
Exactly what you want in writing. They’ve since displayed this same ability with stories like who killed Charlie Dale (Mike Manning). So, they’ve been consistent here for a while.
NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Humor
Another great thing about the writing is how they don’t take themselves too seriously. They make no apologies about the crazy things that happen in Salem. And usually, they’ll poke fun at it.
Not to mention the humor in the writing. The one-liners on DOOL are some of the best in Daytime, in our opinion, and they’ve just been getting better over the past year or so.
NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Character development
Another thing we love is the change in the characters. Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk), for example went through a masterful transformation into a decent person. Sure, that’s been blown up a bit now, but it was well done while it lasted. The friendship between her and Lani Price (Sal Stowers) and how that developed was well-done, too.
Let’s take a look at Gabi DiMera (Camila Banus) as another example. The Gabi we met when we first started watching was an obnoxious woman obsessed with revenge. So much so, she couldn’t see how she was just destroying herself in the process.
Since then, we saw some great scenes of her mourning Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) while rebuilding her life and career. She’s grown up enough to advise her frenemy, Abigail Deveraux (Marci Miller) against revenge.
Seriously, we never thought we’d see Gabi tell someone to cool it with the revenge and think of their kids. Gabi sure wasn’t thinking of her own daughter when she nearly killed Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes). Nor was she doing so before when she gaslit Abigail into thinking she’s crazy.
Because of these reasons and more, we would like to see DOOL get the recognition and the ratings it deserves.
