‘The Bachelor’ franchise’s long running host is officially no longer involved with the ABC juggernaut.
The decision was made just hours after the premiere of season 17 of The Bachelorette debuted- it’s time for Chris Harrison to leave the mansion. However, on his way out, it won’t be a rose Harrison collects, but an eight figure payout.
There is no love lost between Harrison and the PTB (powers that be) behind the scenes, but don’t expect Harrison to be spilling any tea anytime soon.
‘The Bachelor’: It’s Official, Chris Harrison is Out For Good!
The face of the Mike Fleiss-concocted series The Bachelor and its many spinoffs since 2002, Harrison is said to have agreed to take the payout and seal his lips.
We do know that Harrison’s reps have been in intense negotiations over the past week with the PTB. Since word broke that Harrison was officially out of Bachelor In Paradise- a revolving door of celebrity hosts will make their way to Mexico instead-whispers have been gaining strength.
It wasn’t until early Tuesday morning that the split became final. Harrison’s confidential agreement is said to have finally been met with satisfaction from all parties after a lo-oo-oot of back and forth and Harrison’s lawyers motivating the PTB by threatening to air buckets of alleged dirty laundry.
Official word will be made any second now- currently all official Bachelor accounts are basking in the glory of Katie’s successful premier as The Bachelorette last night.
It will be a whole new look for Bachelor Nation now that the PTB and Harrison have officially broken up. Longtime fans were split about the decision that Harrison be cast aside after his racially tone-deaf interview with Extra correspondent and Bachelorette alum Rachael Lindsay.
Many have said they would not watch the ABC dating series, in any of its forms, until Harrison came back.
Now that the split is official and permanent it will be interesting to see if those loyal fans come back, or if this is the beginning of the end for the 19 year franchise.
What do you think of Harrison being permanently ousted? Are you shocked? Upset? Happy? Don’t really care? We’d love to hear your comments!
The Bachelorette airs on Mondays at 8pm ET on ABC.
