There’s one thing CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers have been saying and hoping to see for a while is an epic fall by Victor Newman (Eric Braden) and we may have one coming.
At least, we hope so as it’ll really help the show regain some major footing it’s lost over the years as fans haven’t been shy pointing out the poor storytelling and not-so edgy plots.
One of the old standbys to help generate interest is to have a major character face a huge obstacle, and with Victor really setting himself up as a pompous bad guy in recent months it’s practically screaming for him to fall.
CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Building for the moment
Victor has always tried to control everything, especially his children’s lives. He’s so close to having his children come together it has to warm his heart, but how he’s done so is questionable at best.
Not too long ago, he threatened his daughter, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), that he would take over Newman Enterprises. When she didn’t balk at his bullying, he shifted gears to revenge.
To do that, he forced Ashland Locke (Richard Burghi) to sign the contracts while he was having a heart attack. Victor told him he would only call for help once Ashland signed, so what choice did he have?
And when we add to that Victor forcing Chelsea Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) into her current insanity plea by threatening to take her son out of her life, something Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) would never tolerate, he crossed a new low.
CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: He’d be proud
He’s set himself up perfectly to be the focal point of an epic fall with his actions toward Chelsea being dug into by Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) and Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso).
When they unearth his role in things, Adam won’t be happy and it’ll ignite a Newman family war again, and this time Adam could have Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) on his side.
Victoria might even side with them.
And that’ll be set up by Victor since he’s already chaffing with Adam not agreeing on his revenge against Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson).
Once the ball starts rolling, ‘Young and the Restless’ think the only one that’ll be on Victor’s side is Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), but even she’ll have her limits.
We don’t see her ever leaving Victor’s side no matter what he does, though.
CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: For the future
The children would force him out of the companies and into retirement and Victor’s life would come full circle as he’s left without the one thing he’s cared more about than anything — his family.
And in a way, he’d be proud of his children for being able to overcome them after he taught them and helped refined the tools they’ll use. They’ll be prepared for life without him and continue the family name.
But will the showrunners go this route? Victor is a fan favorite for a good reason, and they may not want to pull the trigger on something like this despite it probably being best for the show.
