Prince William and Kate Middleton have come to the realization that social media is the key to the future. At least, it’s the key to the monarchy’s future.

Here’s a new report that says the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge plan to use more of their social media accounts, along with their new YouTube channel to get their messages out to the world. Here’s what you need to know.

According to Vanity Fair, William and Kate are focusing more on their digital efforts and are working hard to build a successful social media campaign, kind of like what Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had before they pulled the plug on their relationship with the royal family early last year.

Apparently, it’s Prince William who is willing to social media more of a try, as he was earlier hesitant in doing so because he was worried about how it would impact his mental health.

While the royal couple did take part in a lot of Zoom calls during the pandemic, they are only beginning to vlog and blog more about their charities and patronages.

“The move to social media has been on the cards for a long time, it was always going to be the future for the royals as well, but the pandemic has accelerated things,” said a well-placed source, according to the publication. “It has been a blessing in many ways for the royals in general because it means they are more in control of their public image than ever before.’”

Of course, a lot of royal fans can’t help but notice that William and Kate seem to be following in the footsteps of Harry and Meghan, who have longed used different platforms both before and after Megxit.

But then again, can you really compare a YouTube vlog to a multi-million dollar deal with Netflix in which you get to produce your own documentaries? Maybe not.
