There’s a new report that suggests Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle might be competing in a “petty transatlantic popularity contest” in where no one really gets to win a prize on either side. Instead, they just get a lot of criticism from both sides of the pond. Here’s what you need to know.
According to the Daily Mail, Prince William and Kate Middleton along with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seem to be paying attention to what the other party is doing at all times, even though they are supposedly not talking to each other.

In fact, many critics have noticed that the Cambridges are seemingly walking in the Sussexes’ footsteps by launching their own YouTube channel and stepping up their social media game just so they can look as savvy and as sophisticated as Harry and Meghan.
Speaking to Britain’s The Sun, royal expert Duncan Larcombe seemingly admitted that the Cambridges are engaging in a popularity contest with the Sussexes, which make both parties look pathetic on both ends.
He said, “William and Kate are quite clear they need to do more to sell themselves as a couple, family and personalities.Things like their anniversary video, that is a deliberate charm offensive to sell them as personalities as well as people who are going to be the king and queen.”
Larcombe added that someone like Prince Philip wouldn’t have been happy to have seen this kind of behavior, as he always thought the focus of the monarchy should be “on the causes” and “not on the royals.” A lot of critics would certainly agree.
