It looks like Andy Cohen might want to make a few changes with the way he operates his Real Housewives franchise. There’s a new report that says The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah past her background check with the Bravo network, even though she was recently arrested on federal fraud charges. Here’s what you need to know.
At this point, it’s quite clear that the Bravo network needs to do a better job vetting their Real Housewives before they all end up behind bars for one reason or another. Just this past week Jen Shar was arrested on federal fraud charges and faces a maximum of 50 years in prison if convicted on all charges.

According to reports, Jen has been hit with federal charges stemming from allegations she conspired to commit wire fraud and laundered money connected to a purported telemarketing scam, according to federal prosecutors.
The 43-year-old was arrested and taken into federal custody on Tuesday in Salt Lake City, Utah on the indictment which came down from a Manhattan federal court.
Despite all of this, one insider says that Jen’s background didn’t show any red flags about her past.
“Even in the best background checks, [the alleged scheme] is not going to come up — if there was a history of or current illegal activity, then that would be uncovered,” a source close to production said.
“There is a comprehensive background check and reports are vetted through the network and the production company.”
And since Jen’s arrest only happened this past week, there was nothing on her record when she applied to become a Real Housewives. What’s more, no one knew anything about her ongoing schemes.
“Since this investigation and arrest only happened this week, there would be no prior red flags that would have shown up,” a source said Friday. “Bravo is not the FBI.”
