‘The Bachelor’ spoilers find that Matt James has spoken fondly about his mother, Patty–who raised Matt as a single parent–on the drama-fraught season 25 of the Bachelor. However, we have heard little in regards to his father. Until now.
In an emotional sneak peek shown at the end of the yawn-provoking Women Tell All on Monday we see Matt speaking with his father, Manny as the conclusion of his season draws near.
A confused Matt is heard saying, “These women are incredible. I’m about to make one of the most important decisions of my life… I don’t know what I’m going to do.” His hesitation, in part, stems from what, “I’ve seen in my family in the past.”

Previews then show Matt facing that past head-on. Speaking with his estranged father, Matt accuses, “When I needed you, you weren’t there.” Instantly on the defense, Manny replied heatedly, “Do you know what I went through with your mom?”
When Matt demands his father stop making excuses, his father replies, “Nobody’s perfect, son.”
It has been teased since the beginning of the season that Matt will be filmed, looking a mere shell of himself and sitting on a curb outside of the Nemacolin Resort. Embattled host, Chris Harrison asks the broken-down man if he is okay, the which Matt responds with a flat, “No.”
It had seemed this is in response to an event surrounding one of the three remaining ladies who he will be taking to the Fantasy Suites next week- Bri Springs, Michelle Young and the most controversial contestant to be seen on screens in a long time, Rachael Kirkconnell.
Now, it could well be that Matt faces his father for the first time in a long time, but perhaps doesn’t get all the answers he is seeking.
In a confessional, Matt admits that he doesn’t “want to make those same mistakes that caused my family to be torn apart.”
While some viewers are excited to see Matt confront his father, others are saying the clips look exploitative and that such an important conversation should be happening off screen. Then again, The Bachelor has never been known to shy away from getting involved in family drama.
For his part, Matt has been quite candid about his parents’ divorce, revealing to Tamron Hall on her afternoon talk show that he “saw what infidelity looked like at a young age.”
