‘The Bachelor’ spoilers find that Emmanuel Acho, who is stepping in to replace Chris Harrison for next Monday’s After the Final Rose special took the hot seat this morning with GMA.
After the Final rose is usually a live, 1 hour special filmed at the end of the season so the newly betrothed couple can gush about each other while trying to hide the fact they’ve already broken up since filming ended or are at least on the road to Splitsville.
‘The Bachelor’ Spoilers: Emmanuel Acho Talks to Good Morning America About His Tenure as Bachelor Host
This year’s After The Final Rose, like the entire season 25 of The Bachelor, will look very different and not just because we have a different host at the helm. The show has already been recorded, and instead of the final couple making lovey-dovey statements that won’t age well, the season’s controversies, namely the discussion of race and racism will be the hot topic.
Acho, a former NFL linebacker, author and host spoke this morning on GMA about his initial thoughts when the accusations of front runner, Rachael Kirkconnell’s racist past behavior surfaced.
“My initial reaction was, ‘Yikes, that’s not a good look,’. My secondary reaction was, ‘Everybody pump the brakes’ because I believe her photos were racially insensitive and racially ignorant. Racial insensitivity and racial ignorance can play itself out as racism, but it doesn’t necessary classify someone as racist.”
Acho is the author of Uncomfortable Conversations With a Black Man and hosts a podcast with the same name. It seems these credentials, and the charisma he displayed when speaking with GMA make Acho an excellent choice to cap off The Bachelor’s Most. Dramatic. Season. Ever.
He revealed to GMA’s audience his “very, very, very simple” mission when it comes to the After The Final Rose gig. “Allow my white brothers and sisters who have watched the show and fell in love with Matt’s story to understand that Matt’s love story and his journey of love is different than other journeys of love, particularly because of his complexion and his skin color.”
Before the interview on Wednesday morning, Acho posted the preview of his upcoming GMA interview on his Instagram.

The After The Final Rose special will definitely be unlike anything we’ve seen in Bachelor history. Here’s hoping this is just the tipping point and we get to see real change within the franchise going forth.
Watch the three hours finale of The Bachelor on Monday, March 15 starting at 8pm on ABC. The After The Final Rose special begins at 10pm.
